MSO IN TRAINING...
The 34th Basic Training Academy
Week 19:
The recruits traveled to the Cambridge Court House to learn about the court system in Week 19. Attorney John Granara and Attorney Patrick Rodgers explained to the recruits how to testify in court and their legal liability as officers. Clerk of Courts, Michael A. Sullivan, stopped by to give the recruits a tour of different court areas from an actual court room to a deliberation room.
Mr. Joe Blair and Sergeant Frank Eldridge from Newton
Police Department continued to teach incident command systems (ICS). One area
touched upon was 911 procedures.
Ms. Marilyn G. Belmonte taught the recruits about drug abuse recognition. Deputy Daniel Finn and Investigator Steven Giacoppo went over crime scene investigations. The recruits then got into groups and performed investigations using mock crime scenes. They surveyed the given scene and wrote reports on what they found.
They finished up the week doing on the job training at either the Billerica House of Correction or the Cambridge Jail for the July 4th holiday.
