On Thursday and Friday, the recruits got more Spanish lessons with Ms. Karen Murphy. They learned numbers and how to conduct strip searches in Spanish. Control and body commands commonly used on the job such as, “Stop!” and “Put your hands up!” were taught in their Spanish equivalents. The recruits did group work and then were tested on what they learned. Friday’s Spanish classes were complemented with constitutional law. They finished off learning about domestic violence and covered protective custody as well as alcohol and drug laws.
Also on Thursday, the recruits had their midyear physical fitness test. All passed, but for the 1.5 mile run, the top three contenders were Recruit Ezequiel Mercado in first, Recruit Matthew Blodgett in second and Recruit David Salvucci in third. Sergeant Brian Crane mentioned how important it was that each recruit has improved in their running.
Mr. Brian Greeley conducted individual meetings with each recruit on Thursday. The recruits took the time to write research term papers for their communication presentations coming up in two weeks. Each individual will focus on topics that he or she is interested in pertaining to the job in general.
