Superintendent External Operations / Internal Affairs

The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office is seeking candidates for the position of Superintendent External Operations/Internal Affairs.  The selected candidate will be responsible for security operations at all Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) facilities, managing the public safety division and the investigation unit.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:  Managing the Internal Affairs and External Operations of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office as well as the security, custody, care and control of inmates and detainees.  Overseeing the security staff at all MSO facilities.  Directing all internal and external investigations.  Constantly monitoring and evaluating the physical security of all correctional facilities within the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.  Managing the public safety division of the MSO including various special operation units.  Working closely with all local, state and federal law enforcement officials as a liaison for the MSO to manage existing mutual aid agreements.  Coordinating all law enforcement initiatives and activities with numerous public safety agencies.

Strong written and communication skills are necessary.  The candidate must also have strong organizational and time management skills and be able to work under pressure on time sensitive projects.  Ten (10) years of management experience in a correctional facility or law enforcement agency.  Experience in the organizing, planning, directing and evaluating a correctional facility operations.  A Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or Public Administration is preferred.  Candidates shall be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of a law enforcement agency.  Salary is commensurate with experience.

Training
