 On Friday, May 12, 2006 Middlesex Sheriff James V. DiPaola presented awards to four outstanding members of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office in honor of National Correctional Officers Week, which ran from May 7 to May 13. A ceremony honoring this year’s recipients was held on the 4th floor of the Cambridge Superior Courthouse and Jail.

Deputy Sheriff Tim McGibbon of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and Medford Police Lt. John McLean, both members of the Medford Police Computer Crimes Unit, arrested George A. Shipps for online enticement of a 15 year old female, exhibiting the latest computer technology and the benefits of inter-agency partnerships.
Shipps, 23, was the subject of a month long investigation by Deputy McGibbon and Lt. McLean. Deputy McGibbon was assigned to the Medford Computer Crime Unit by Middlesex Sheriff James V. DiPaola and the NEMLEC Task Force.

Middlesex Sheriff James V. DiPaola participated in a press conference with member of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to announce the success of Operation Avalanche, a multi-department operation to apprehend criminal aliens living in the Boston area.
The operation, which took place from March 13 to March 16, resulted in 57 arrests of criminal aliens from 21 different countries. The criminal aliens were wanted for such crimes as rape, assault and battery and drug-related offenses. The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Team joined ICE, Suffolk County Sheriff and Boston Police officers to bring the criminal aliens to justice.

On October 28th 2005 Sheriff James V. DiPaola deputized 41 men and women from the 32nd Basic Training Academy.  These exceptional men and women endured 19 weeks of rigorous mental and physical training.

On Friday, September 2, 2005 Middlesex Sheriff James DiPaola led a convoy of Middlesex Sheriff’s resources and deputies on the road to New Orleans to aid in disaster relief.
